Not Too Young To Run

Not Too Young to Run tells the audacious story of nine-year-old Simi Coker and a bunch of classmates who are determined to take responsibility for their lives. Disgusted by the law which forbids Port Winkle children to vote in elections, Simi decides to do something about it. After all, like everyone else, children have the right to be heard and not only seen. Simi’s daring letter to the Port Winkle governor opens up the opportunity for Port Winkle children to go to the polls and choose their own governor.

Considered by many children as the best candidate to become the children’s governor of Port Winkle, Simi, however, loses her party’s ticket to her friend Valerie. But she doesn’t give in to the pressure of losing. With her help, her party is able to rally the street children to vote in the election on the campaign of quality education for all Port Winkle children. Yet their biggest obstacle comes from Wayo Padiman (Port Winkle governor’s son) who uses very dirty, sly manoeuvres to try to win the election.
