About the Author

Ndidi Chiazor-Enenmor is an award-winning author who writes for children and adults. She is also an environmental activist, child rights advocate, songwriter, screenwriter, and education consultant. Her debut novel, If They Tell the Story, won the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Prose Prize in 2022.

She has written several children’s books, ranging from picture books to early chapter books and teen fiction. Her latest book, A Father’s Pride, made the shortlist of three of the Nigeria Prize for Literature, 2024. The book explores advocacy issues such as children’s protection, climate change, environmental preservation, cultural awareness, and promotion of local languages. It also examines the negative impact of bullying. A Father’s Pride is endorsed by the Nigeria Conservation Foundation (NCF).

Other books she has written include A Hero’s Welcome, which made the Longlist of the Nigeria Prize for Literature (2019), and One Little Mosquito, winner of the Association of Nigerian Authors Prize for Children’s Literature (2009). Others are: My Fruits My Alphabet, I Will Always Eat My Food, Timi and the Barber, and Stories of Our Land, a collection of folktales from different ethnic groups in Nigeria.

In 2017, Ndidi participated in the Book Dash programme in Johannesburg, South Africa, alongside other selected children’s book authors from different parts of Africa, all sponsored by the Goethe Institut. Her picture book, Mina and the Birthday Dress was written during the Book Dash event.

Ndidi has also written outstanding short stories. Some include ‘Oso Ochu’ published in Wings of Dawn, an anthology of works by Nigerian female writers, and ‘Monkey Palaver’, published in the 2024 edition of ANA Review.

As an advocate of education beyond the classroom, she has facilitated many creative workshops and reading promotion projects for children across Nigeria.

She founded The Child’s Health Initiative in 2006, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that promotes children’s and women’s mental and physical health through the arts and literature. She is also the founder of the Walnut Book Club, a reading club that engages children in exploring the fascinating world of books. Members of the book club are spread across different primary and secondary schools in Lagos.
