About the Author
William O. Achukwu (1930-2006) was born in Onitsha, Nigeria. He was formerly the principal agricultural engineer of the Agricultural Engineering Services in Eastern Nigeria within the Ministry of Agriculture. He later became the Chief Agricultural Engineer in 1971. In 1972, he was seconded to the Agricultural Development Authority (ADA) of Eastern Nigeria as its first president, a position he held till his retirement from public service in 1975. He went on to establish his own private consultancy firm, INAGEC Ltd. (Industrial Agricultural and Engineering Consultants), specializing in the establishment and management of agro-based industrial projects.
Achukwu was a member of the Green Revolution, a programme of the East Central state of Nigeria (1972), and a consultant on Operation Feed the Nation (1976- 1979).
He passed away on 17 June 2006, at the age of 76.
