A Piece of Pie is a fictional illustrative book for children ages 3-7.

It tells the story of a girl named Chika, who was known for her penchant for playing horrid but playful gags. Her friends, classmates, and teachers did not like it at all, but despite many warnings, Chika persists. The story follows her mischievous activities through a number of days, and at the end, she finds out the reason she should have heeded her many warnings.

About the Author

Margaret Thomas Irefo graduated from the University of Baltimore Maryland, in the United States of America. She graduated with honours with a degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to this, she majored in Legal Studies at Coventry University in the United Kingdom. Margaret became an author in 2021, with her first book, ‘Shoes On The Bed’, which was published by Austin Macauley Publishers in the UK.
She started writing as a creative outlet during the lockdown in 2020 in England, relating to the Covid-19 pandemic. Over time she put together her day-to-day artwork and writing ideas thus developing a unique style for writing children’s illustrative books, using proverbial sayings, such as, ‘A Stitch In Time Saves Nine’, which she heard as a child or remembers being told as a child.
She believes these saying were useful for her, in the formation of a healthy and balanced socio-emotional intelligence. She also believes that introducing Social Emotional Learning at foundational stages will help children thrive or perform better, deal better with and better prepare for the challenges they will face in life. She is married with two children and resides in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, UK.
