About the Author
David Owoeye is a medical doctor specialised in infection prevention and control, a sickle cell warrior, advocate, and author.
He is one of the trustees of Beulah Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria and an executive member of Amplify Sickle Cell Voices International Inc. (a global sickle cell organization).
He has seven years of work experience in infection prevention and control, six years in health insurance, and above eleven years in general medical practice. He graduated with an MBBS and MBA from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, in 2005 and 2010, respectively, and a Master of Science (MSc) in Infection Control from the University of Essex Colchester, the United Kingdom, in 2018.
He is the author of the book, A LIFE WITH SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA, published in September 2020, co-author of the book, THE MANY FACES AND LIVES OF SICKLE CELL – A GLOBAL COLLABORATION, published in June 2022, and author of the book – THE STORY ABOUT MALARIA: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. (Achieving Zero-Malaria by 2030) published in September 2022 and WE WILL SURVIVE: SICKLE CELL POEMS AND PROSE, published in June 2023.
He is a prolific writer with some awards while serving in the editorial crew of some organisations, including the 2003 Best School (UITH) chapter editor-in-chief of the Nigerian Conference of Christian Medical and Dental Students (NCCMDS). The newsletter (MEDIZOE) produced during his tenure was awarded the best (national) for the year 2003.
David is a Christian, blessed with two handsome boys, Moranuoluwa and Morireoluwa Owoeye.
