This volume features The Pearl by his daughter, Pearl Umana. The story The Pearl was first publicly read to a group of year 5 students at the British School, Al Khubairat, Abu Dhabi. It was warmly received and celebrated. This volume documents his experiences as a teacher and ex-pat – in the bare and untamed state.

About the Author

Uwem Umana is an English teacher, educational consultant, learning expert, business analyst, youth leader, coach, and mentor. He has taught in three continents – Africa, Europe, and Asia. He is a storyteller, poet, essayist, and critique. He is the founder and author of https://enrichyourmind.co.uk/. He has published a collection of short stories titled Dead and Other Stories (2021), an anthology of poems titled Awakening the Troubadours (A New Anthology, 2003) edited by Taye Anavhe, and a collection of poems titled Drums and Blues (1999).
He is also one of the contributors of the book ‘Improving professional learning through in-house inquiry’. Uwem is a traveller and active sportsman. He plays Scrabble and likes to hold nice conversations with people from all walks of life. Uwem studied geology, education, English, and literature at the university. He holds a master’s degree in Leadership and Management from Warwick University, UK.
