OLÚMỌ: Shield in the Marvel Land, is a chronicle historical play about the adventures of the Ẹ̀gbá people aftermath 7 year-long Òwu war, the play relates the physical, economic, and spiritual significance of the Olúmọ Rock, and how the people of Ẹ̀gbá come to dwell under it.
OLÚMỌ presents Lámọdi, Ṣódẹkẹ́, Lúnlóyè, Agbó, Sómóyè, Ògúnbọ́nà, and other notable Ẹ̀gbá warlords in attempts to free their people from the adversities in the refugee camp of Máyẹ̀ and the Ọ̀yọ́-Ìjẹ̀bú-Ifẹ̀ allied forces in Ẹ̀bá Ọ̀dàn (Ìbàdàn). Lámọdi and Ṣódẹkẹ́ invoke the spirit of Ẹ̀gbá’s foremost freedom fighter, Líṣàbí Agbòngbò Àkàlà, and become extra fortified enough to rise against these oppressors. After years of continuous unbearable aggressions, repressions, injustices, sexual molestations, kidnappings, and trafficking of Ẹ̀gbá women and children, as well as severe sufferings under this yoke, Ẹ̀gbá strategizes on how to peacefully break out of these shackles, unfortunately, the what is supposed to be a civil break-up degenerates into a fatal war which claims the life of General Lámọdi, his wife and only son.
Owing to this bitter development, Séríkí Ṣódẹkẹ́, his lieutenant, takes over leadership in the principle of military necessity, with full determination, he wrathfully resists assailing Máyẹ̀ in a very brutal battle and emerges decisively victorious. Consequent to this victory for Ẹ̀gbá, Ṣódẹkẹ́ leads his people to a new settlement, Oko Adàgbà (now Abẹ́òkúta), where Ifa oracle predicts they will find solace and become very prosperous.

Lukman Oluwadamilare Abiose, a bonafide breed of Aare Kurunmi, of Ijaye and Egba descents in Abeokuta, Ogun State, South-Western, Nigeria. He is a multitalented creative professional; theatre scholar, creative writer, artistic director, actor, producer, filmmaker, theatre and film production manager, talent manager, accidental music composer and producer, academic content creator, occasional journalistic writer, a humanitarian, and a through and through activist in the face of injustice.
Lukman holds both a National Diploma in Mass Communication, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performing Arts from the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, and the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, in 2011 and 2016 respectively. In his university days, he was crowned academic scholar for four consecutive years, having led his class untoppled. Upon this feat, Lukman graduated as the best student in Performing Arts. Towards achieving his dream of telling the African historic and heroic tales in theatre and cinematic forms, he established and registered a theatre company, Osumare KreatiVision in 2015. So far so good, the company has been able to produce over 30 stage shows in Abeokuta, Lagos, Ilorin, Malete, and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja between March 2018 and February 2020.
In 2019, Lukman managed the Nigerian troupe at the African Drum Festival, Abeokuta, Nigeria, working under the watch of Prof. Wole Soyinka, after which he founded Osumare Young Kreative Academy (OYKA) in 2022, a grooming platform for young creative talents between the ages of 5 and 16. Lukman is credited with so many journalistic write-ups, most with Industrial Communications Network Limited, the publisher of PMNews and THE News Magazine, with many more creative works waiting to be published and produced. He is currently the Secretary of the Screenwriters Guild of Nigeria (SWGN) Ogun State Chapter, and a member of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP). As a natural-born humanitarian, Lukman O. Abiose is a member and a charter assistant secretary of the Lions Clubs International (LCI).

Olumo; Shield in the Marvel Land is a recreation of Egba historical core facts and it encapsulates the lives of prominent Abeokuta war legends with truly African characters in paraphernalia and Aesthetics. This especially makes the story unique, unparalleled and phenomenal. The beautiful drama script is very typically African in content, current in it’s thematic pursuit of liberation, trendy in terms of appeal and a good deal of spectacle as a bait for advance involvement. I heartily commend the Author (my brother) for a job welldone as this play will shock the entire African populace with teasers to some of our fundamental national problems and social realities.

It is of utmost importance that every African Child knows their root. The book, Olúmọ: Shield in the Marvel Land is a well woven play, telling the beauty and richness of the Olúmọ heritage. Employing series of dramatic devices and yet not losing its originality.
I sincerely commend the author- a mentor and my very own brother, for this beautiful play.
