Lessons From The Patriarchs: Biographical Studies From Enoch To Abraham

Every recorded information in the Bible has a message for us. We sure can learn from the names, places, numbers, peope, principles and instructions therein. For instance, in Genesis5, we see the gospel preached through the names of the first ten patriarchs. Let us take a look: Adam – man; Seth – appointed; Enos – subject to death; Cainan – sorrowful, lamenting; Mehaleel – from the praise of God; Jared – One comes down; Enoch – learning obedience or trained; Merhuselah – dying he shall send; Lamech – to the poor brought very low; Noah – rest. Now read them together: “Man, appointed, subject to death, sorrowful, lamenting, from the praise of God, One comes down, learning obedience or trained, dying he shall send, to the poor brought very low, rest”
