About the Author
Ambassador (Dr) Eniola Olaitan Ajayi, a distinguished diplomat, politician, and optometrist, has dedicated her life to public service and international diplomacy. Born on January 18, 1965, in Ekiti State, Nigeria, she holds a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Benin and a Master of Philosophy in Ocular Pathology from the University of London. Her career spans diverse fields, including significant contributions as the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, and Environment in Ekiti State, Nigeria.
As an accomplished diplomat, Dr. Ajayi served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and the Netherlands. She also represented Nigeria at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). Her leadership includes chairing the Governing Council of the Common
Fund for Commodities and the FGN Women Ambassadors Network.
Dr. Ajayi’s mission in diplomacy focuses on IMAGE building for Nigeria, INCLUSION of citizens, INVESTMENT drives, and INNOVATION in service delivery. She is passionate about protecting the rights and interests of all Nigerians, fostering a vision of a united and prosperous nation.
She is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Distinguished Ambassador of the Year (2019) and the Best Ambassador Award from the African Forum (2021). Uniben Hero (2021). A devoted motivator and minister, she is actively involved in her local assembly at Daystar Christian Centre. Dr. Ajayi is married to Dr. Adegboyega Oke and is a mother to accomplished children.
